The Pelican has understandably become a hit with the fashion, music and publishing set. Every one of the 30 rooms you see is completely different from the other. All have been daringly and wittily designed by the Swedish interior decorator Magnus Ehrland and they all come with their own titles. The rooms are tooled after their themes, for instance, 309 (a standard room with a queen size bed) is called “Psychedelic(ate) Girl”, 302 (the gorgeous ocean-front room with a queen size bed) is called “Big Bamboo”, 201 (the fabulous ocean-front suite with a king-size bed), is called “Executive Fifties”, 215 (a standard room with a queen size bed) is called “Best Whorehouse” (!!!).
Magnus Ehrland spent every weekend, for just over seven months, scouring garage sales, flea markets and antique stores all over the state of Florida. He wouldn’t rest until he had the right assortment of one-of-a-kind furnishings. Mr. Ehrland’s kitschy props help make the perfect Pelican statement.
Yet even with the often outrageous quirks, while at the Pelican you will enjoy the use of Wireless Internet available throughout the whole property or Movies and Music on demand by “On Command” in each room.
The beach is just in front of you and the Pelican offers complimentary beach chairs, umbrella and beach towels for the length of your stay!
The essential attention to the smallest detail is what sets the Pelican apart from the rest.
One of the memories you will always have of the Pelican (not considering the ones you will not share with the rest of us!) is the Pelican shower! A strong, steady stream pulsing from the broad showerheads gives the effect of standing under a loving spring rain. You must try it to believe it!
The attention-getting penthouse, which becomes the headquarters whenever Diesel President Renzo Rosso is in residence, occupies the entire top floor.
The Pelican penthouse is a favorite of those who have the luxury to realize the bargain they are getting at $ 2,500 per night. Let’s start at the top with the rooftop deck and hot tub. The Pelican Penthouse also features a large canary yellow dining room table, which seats eight. There is also a granite kitchen with stainless steel appliances, not to mention the amazing living room with a 50” flat screen TV.
A six-foot round tropical fish tank overlooks the decidedly grand living room, as well as the master bedroom. The master bedroom is accessed by double-white steel doors, and features a spectacular queen-size round bed. His and hers walk-in closets, a Jacuzzi tub, and separate multi-head steam showers make this the ultimate honeymoon suite. The additional two bedrooms are equally impressive and are joined by a walk-through mint-green bathroom. Delicious!!
Other first-rate amenities of the Pelican include the 15-mile long, famous white sand, Miami Beach at your doorstep, a multi-lingual staff, 24-hour concierge, fax, overnight delivery and copy services, and valet parking.
